Full‑time Research Assistant – Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine

About the role

The Department of Medicine at the University of Miami seeks a full‑time Research Assistant to support the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. You will work closely with the Principal Investigator, providing both scientific and clerical support to ensure smooth research operations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and perform minor repairs on laboratory apparatus.
• Prepare correspondence, answer phones, and manage bibliographies and forms.
• Order laboratory supplies, maintain culture media reagents, and keep detailed logs, records, and study notebooks.
• Recruit and screen patients/subjects, schedule visits, and assist with informed consent.
• Prepare NIH and IRB applications and develop recruitment materials.
• Collect, organize, and maintain source documentation and participant charts.
• Assist in data collection, ensure protocol compliance, and interact professionally with patients, families, and staff.

Required profile

• Ability to follow established research protocols and maintain patient safety.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for record‑keeping.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Capacity to work under supervision and handle multiple administrative tasks.
