Full-Time Registered Nurse – Medical Respite Care

About the role

Christ House, a 24‑hour short‑term medical respite facility for men experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC, is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse. You will provide holistic nursing care, medication management, and patient education within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Administer medications as ordered and document in the MAR.
• Perform patient assessments, wound care, glucometer testing, insulin administration, and vital‑sign interpretation.
• Admit new patients, coordinate discharges, and prepare referrals to hospitals and clinics.
• Collaborate with Respite Care Assistants, providers, and unit clerks to deliver high‑quality care.
• Teach patients self‑care practices for chronic illnesses and daily living activities.
• Maintain accurate shift reports and progress notes.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC.
• Current CPR certification.
• Preferably 2 years of experience in an acute‑care setting.
