Full-Time Hospital Cook (U) – Miami

About the role

The Department of Food Services at the University of Miami Health System is seeking a dedicated Full‑Time Cook (U) to join its kitchen team. Working in a fast‑paced hospital environment, you will prepare nutritious meals for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Follow menus and recipes to prepare and cook meats, fish, poultry, gravies, cereals, soups, vegetables, and other items.
• Wash, chop, store, and handle ingredients safely.
• Measure, mix, and season menu items according to facility standards.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
• Test foods for proper doneness and serve portions onto appropriate receptacles.
• Maintain cleanliness of cooking areas, equipment, flatware, and serving dishes.
• Monitor and regulate appliance temperatures.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, food‑safety regulations, and patient‑centric service models.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year relevant cooking experience.
• Ability to work variable shifts between 3:00 AM – 8:00 PM, including weekends.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality meals and excellent customer satisfaction.
