Full-Stack Software Engineer (Backend-Leaning)

About the role

Collate is building an AI‑powered document generation platform for life‑sciences companies. We are looking for a Full‑Stack Engineer with a backend focus to design, implement, and scale the services and user‑facing features that power our product.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and scale backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Deliver end‑to‑end, production‑ready features in collaboration with product, design, and AI engineering teams.
• Balance rapid iteration with technical rigor to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Create internal tools and workflows that improve engineering productivity.
• Share responsibility for production systems, including participation in on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Experience building across the stack with deeper strength in backend systems.
• Passion for both technical robustness and a polished user experience.
• Comfort with ambiguity, quick learning, and solving novel problems.
• Value speed, pragmatism, and scrappiness while knowing when to design for robustness.
• Background as an early‑stage engineer or startup founder, or a strong desire for that level of ownership.
