About the role
We are seeking an experienced FRP Technician to fabricate, install, repair, and maintain fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) piping, tanks, ducts, vessels, and structural components at various industrial sites in La Porte, TX. The role involves hands‑on work in a safety‑focused environment, collaborating with other trades on multi‑disciplinary projects.
Key responsibilities
- Fabricate, install, repair, and maintain FRP systems according to blueprints, isometric drawings, and work orders.
- Prepare surfaces, lay up fiberglass mats, apply resins, and manage curing processes.
- Conduct inspections for wear, corrosion, and structural deficiencies.
- Use hand and power tools, cutting, grinding, and specialized FRP equipment.
- Mix and apply resins, catalysts, and hardeners following technical data sheets and safety guidelines.
- Coordinate with welders, pipefitters, and other trades on project sites.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and complete required documentation.
Required profile
- Minimum 2 years of experience in FRP fabrication, repair, or installation in industrial settings.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and safety documentation.
- Physical ability to lift up to 100 lb, work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and travel to remote sites.
- Pass pre‑employment drug screening, respirator fit tests, and possess required safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, confined‑space).
Required skills
- FRP hand‑lay‑up and spray‑up techniques.
- Blueprint and isometric drawing interpretation.
- Resin mixing and application according to TDS.
- Use of hand and power tools for cutting, grinding, and shaping FRP components.
- Knowledge of ASTM, ASME RTP‑1, and NACE standards.
- OSHA safety certifications and confined‑space entry procedures.
