Welder Fitter – 2nd & 3rd Shift

About the role

The Welder Fitter will perform torch and plasma cutting, fitting, tacking, and MIG welding of carbon steel components on the 2nd and 3rd shifts. The position requires working from weld data sheets, prints, and oral instructions to produce high‑quality, full‑penetration bevel joints.

Key responsibilities

• Set up fixtures, turntables or lathes for circular parts and prepare weld benches.
• Clean, deburr, and grind parts, then weld using 2G and 2F procedures to achieve proper penetration.
• Perform torch and plasma cutting on carbon steel and use various measuring devices to verify dimensions.
• Repair defective welds by grinding, cutting, or chiseling and re‑weld according to specifications.
• Move materials with cranes, dollies, and carts, and maintain an organized work area.

Required profile

• Ability to lift 50 lb and operate a forklift and hoists.
• General computer skills and ability to read gauges and measurement tools.

Required skills

• Torch cutting and plasma cutting.
• MIG welding of carbon steel, qualified for 2G and 2F positions.
• Use of measuring tapes, verniers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines.
• Forklift operation and basic crane handling.
