Fresh Manager

About the role

Meijer is looking for a Fresh Manager in Rochester Hills. The manager plans, directs and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations of the store, acts as mentor and coach, and drives customer service, sales and store appearance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly and efficient service to customers and team members, and spend most of the time in the store.
• Handle staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by giving career paths, identifying development needs and taking responsibility for promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and recommend discharge where needed.
• Own the P&L, achieve sales targets and maintain shrink for the department.
• Mentor and coach the team so that customer service and sales goals are exceeded and the area meets Meijer standards.
• Ensure the team is fully trained and has completed all required training.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations, promote a safe work environment and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Helpful: rotational assignments in meat, bakery, produce and deli, plus customer service and product flow experience.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.

Required skills

• Clear communication and conflict resolution, addressing root causes.
• Managing multiple tasks and analyzing financial and statistical information to make informed decisions.
• Teaching suggestive selling and leading a safe workplace.
• Mentoring team members, hourly workers and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.
