Foundry Production Worker

About the role

Tyler Pipe, part of McWane, is hiring Foundry Production Workers in Tyler, Texas. Workers perform duties in their assigned production area, operating, monitoring, controlling, maintaining and cleaning machinery used to produce cast iron pipe and fittings. The actual job assignment is set at new hire orientation depending on production needs, with most new hires starting as Core Machine Operator, Casting Processor or Pipe Processor. Most openings are on the second shift.

Key responsibilities

• Operate machinery to make fitting cores
• Grind fittings to remove excess iron and prepare them for coating
• Inspect, stack and bundle pipe for transfer to the inventory yard
• Follow safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Communicate production issues to the supervisor
• Keep the work area clean, safe and orderly
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Required profile

• 18 years of age or older
• Verifiable and consistent work experience
• Ability to pass an employment background check, drug screening and physical fitness test (coordinated through Tyler Pipe's HR and Safety departments)
• Capacity to meet quality standards and production output goals
• Ability to work in a foundry environment that can be hot and/or dirty
• Understanding of mechanical tools and equipment, willingness to help across different machines, dedication to safety, good attendance and punctuality
