Foundation Relations Manager

About the role

Zoo New England is seeking a Foundation Relations Manager to lead the acquisition and stewardship of grant funding from private, corporate, and government sources. The role will focus on building long‑term partnerships that support both unrestricted operations and specific program initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward private and corporate foundations.
• Research and develop prospect profiles, set appropriate ask amounts and prioritize grant opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal staff to create compelling proposals aligned with foundation guidelines.
• Maintain a rigorous schedule of contacts, moves‑management plans and timely proposal submissions.
• Track and manage active grants, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and program deliverables.
• Oversee a portfolio of corporate volunteer grants, coordinating volunteer groups and activities.
• Support the Development office with evening and weekend events as needed.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising for nonprofit organizations.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with foundation and corporate donors.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadline management.
• Excellent written communication for proposal development and reporting.
