Forward Deployed Software Engineer

About the role

As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer at Archangel, you will bring cutting‑edge AI to the tactical edge, adapting vision and language models for efficiency and local context. You will work directly with users, travel to customer sites, and build solutions rapidly, often under challenging field conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy and optimize AI models (vision, language, LLMs) on‑site for compute‑constrained environments.
• Collaborate with hardware, UI, and operations teams to integrate software into fielded systems.
• Travel up to 30% to install, test, and troubleshoot solutions at customer locations.
• Maintain reliable deployments with logging, watchdogs, crash recovery, automated testing, CI/CD, and field diagnostics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Machine Learning, or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python; experience with Java or C++ is a plus.
• Experience developing in Linux environments and building AI‑driven solutions.
• U.S. Person status and ability to travel.
