Forward Deployed Engineer (Data42, Palantir Foundry)

About the role

Data42, a Novartis business unit, is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on a hybrid basis (3 days a week in the office). The FDE is an embedded technical delivery leader who works directly with domain teams to turn high-value problems into working data and AI applications on Palantir Foundry, bridging users, product and platform engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Embed with domain teams to understand workflows, define success criteria and turn needs into shipped capabilities, leading discovery and iterative delivery from prototype to production.
• Design and build end-to-end Foundry solutions, including data pipelines, transformations, ontology alignment and application workflows, and optimize them for operational decision-making and analytics.
• Ingest, transform and model datasets, set data quality checks and document assumptions and limitations.
• Build user-facing applications and workflow experiences, integrating with upstream and downstream systems and supporting deployment, monitoring and improvement.
• Partner with product managers, data scientists, data engineers, governance and platform teams, communicate trade-offs and unblock delivery.
• Create reusable templates, components and patterns, mentor teammates and contribute to documentation and delivery standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in biomedical research, bioengineering, bioinformatics or a related domain.
• Hands-on experience building and operating Palantir Foundry solutions, with a Foundry-first mindset.
• Proven track record of delivering software, data or analytics products in a fast-paced, user-facing environment, with rapid prototyping to production.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and reliability.
