Food Service Worker – No Nights/Weekends (Brooklyn, NY)

About the role

The Food Service Worker supports a small team that prepares and delivers fresh, made‑from‑scratch meals to hundreds of schoolchildren each day. The position is focused on serving children in a school environment, with regular daytime hours and no night or weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Portion meals according to Red Rabbit production guidelines and NYS regulations.
• Present, garnish, and distribute meals with dignity, following school timing.
• Accurately count and track food distribution to ensure compliance and minimize waste.
• Maintain a clean kitchen that meets Department of Health standards.
• Represent Red Rabbit’s values when interacting with school staff and students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of professional culinary experience in a fast‑paced environment (restaurant, commissary, school or hospital cafeteria).
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices; Serve Safe certification preferred.
• Food handler’s license or certificate is a plus.
• Ability to lift 50 lb regularly and perform physical tasks.
• Strong English reading and writing skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
• Self‑motivated, organized, and able to work calmly in a team.

Required skills

• Food safety and sanitation knowledge.
• Serve Safe certification (or equivalent).
