Food Service Worker

About the role

The Georgia Department of Education is hiring a Food Service Worker for the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring, Georgia. This role involves preparing, cooking, serving, and distributing meals to students, staff, and visitors while maintaining food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, serve, and distribute meals according to menus and nutritional guidelines.
• Operate, clean, and maintain specialized food service equipment safely.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Perform routine cleaning of kitchen, dining areas, and equipment.
• Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation.
• Assist with inventory control, food storage, and receiving deliveries.
• Provide guidance to assigned staff and act as lead worker during daily operations.
• Maintain accurate records related to food production, sanitation, and inventory.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED and at least one year of relevant experience.
• Ability to communicate using American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred.
• Previous experience in a school, residential, or educational setting.
• Experience in institutional or large‑scale food service operations.

Required skills
