Food Service Coordinator / In‑School Cafe Chef (Day Shift)

About the role

Red Rabbit is seeking a detail‑oriented Food Service Coordinator to manage daily in‑school meal service in Bronx, NY. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will act as the operational bridge between the kitchen team and school partners, ensuring meals are served accurately, safely, and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily meal service, guaranteeing correct portioning, compliance with NSLP requirements, and timely delivery.
• Stage and present meals to create an appealing and organized service line.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming service environment for students.
• Monitor operations, identify workflow issues, and work with the kitchen team to resolve same‑day challenges.
• Maintain accurate meal counts and operational records in company systems; promptly flag discrepancies.
• Support compliance with NSLP regulations, company policies, and dietary accommodations, including allergy protocols.
• Serve as the day‑to‑day liaison with school partners, communicating operational concerns to the Head Chef and District Manager.

Required profile

• Strong organizational and data‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in food‑service operations or school‑meal programs.
• Knowledge of National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements and allergy protocols.
• Passion for improving access to nutritious meals for students.
