Food and Beverage Associate – Outdoor Eatery Cook

About the role

The Food and Beverage Associate prepares ingredients, cooks menu items to order, and maintains a clean, safe workspace in a high‑paced outdoor eatery. The position supports two venues – Acorn Bar & Grill and Jade Grill – operating Wednesday through Saturday.

Key responsibilities

• Set up cooking stations, chop vegetables, butcher meat, and prepare seafood and sauces before service.
• Cook a variety of fast‑food and specialty items (e.g., deep‑fried foods, sushi, oysters, dim sum) according to standardized recipes.
• Maintain sanitation standards, monitor food storage temperatures, and report maintenance issues.
• Manage inventory, submit stock orders, and assist with unloading supplies and truck cleaning.
• Serve customers at windows, counters or tables, operate the POS system, and handle cash transactions.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of line‑cook experience, preferably in an outdoor eatery.
• Must be at least 21 years old to serve alcoholic beverages.
• Valid California driver’s license and ability to work flexible evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand up to 9 hours and lift/move up to 50 lb as needed.

Required skills

• Food Handlers Card or SERVSafe certification.
• Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
• Experience operating grill, fryer and other cooking equipment.
• Proficiency with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems and cash handling.
