FOG Operator

About the role

Veolia is seeking a dedicated FOG Operator to support the Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) management program at the Danbury Wastewater Treatment Plant. The operator will handle incoming grease trucks, maintain related equipment and tanks, and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant processing of FOG materials.

Key responsibilities

• Offload incoming grease trucks following safety and operational procedures.
• Schedule deliveries and disposals to keep the program running efficiently.
• Decant tanks and separate FOG materials as required.
• Transfer oil and processed materials to designated storage tanks.
• Clean and maintain FOG‑related equipment, tanks, piping, and the on‑site pump station.
• Perform general housekeeping and site maintenance to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
• Monitor equipment performance, report issues, and carry out routine preventive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of schedules, offloads, transfers, and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with plant operators, supervisors, and external haulers to support seamless operations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in wastewater treatment, industrial operations, maintenance, or truck offloading preferred.
• Familiarity with FOG programs, grease handling, or pump systems is a plus.

Required skills

• Mechanical aptitude for hands‑on tasks.
• Ability to operate and maintain pump stations and related equipment.
• Capability to perform routine preventive maintenance.
• Strict adherence to safety protocols and proper use of PPE.
