Floating Maintenance Technician – Northern Virginia

About the role

Greystar is seeking a versatile Floating Maintenance Technician to support its Northern Virginia portfolio. The role involves performing technical and mechanical work across multiple properties to ensure buildings, grounds, amenities and common areas meet the company’s standards for safety, appearance and functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to resident work orders and perform preventative maintenance, diagnosing issues and completing repairs in line with safety standards and code requirements.
• Execute the “make‑ready” process for vacant units, including pre‑move‑out inspections, creating punch lists, coordinating vendors, obtaining supplies, completing repairs and final inspections.
• Manage inventory of tools, supplies and equipment, track usage and notify supervisors of re‑order needs.
• Document service requests accurately and maintain timely paperwork for tracking.
• Assist with grounds and amenity upkeep such as trash removal, pressure‑washing breezeways and pool areas, general cleaning, and painting curbs or signage.
• Support cost‑control initiatives by repairing rather than replacing parts and using materials efficiently.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with building maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Ability to follow safety and risk‑management policies.
• Strong organizational skills for tracking work orders and inventory.
• Effective communication with residents, vendors and supervisors.
