Fire Alarm/Suppression Technician

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Fire Alarm Suppression Technician for its Springfield, VA location. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, and the technician performs a variety of life safety trade functions covering both fire alarm and fire suppression. The position requires a US citizen who can obtain and maintain a TS security clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair fire alarm equipment such as smoke detectors, pull stations, mass notification devices, strobes, tamper switches, fire alarm control panels, UPS batteries and associated wiring.
• Work from blueprints, drawings and layouts to locate and diagnose alarms and faults in fire alarm systems.
• Perform fire sprinkler repair, inspection and testing, including work with backflow preventers, fire pumps, sprinkler heads, water flow and switches.
• Complete knowledge of wet and dry sprinkler systems and ability to perform basic service and troubleshooting.
• Identify code issues and non-conformance issues; install fire sprinkler systems where required.
• Carry out extensive testing as part of the preventative maintenance schedule and respond to system troubles, which may require flexible hours.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years minimum of experience in the fire alarm/suppression field.
• Ability to read and write at a level sufficient for the job.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs without help.
• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a TS security clearance.
• Active, fully adjudicated TS/SCI with polygraph is preferred.

Required skills

• Certification or experience with EST 3 and/or EST 4 fire alarm systems.
• NICET Level I or Level II license.
• Proficiency with electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) preferred.
