Financial Crimes Investigator (Entry Level)

About the role

AML RightSource, a technology-enabled managed services firm focused on fighting financial crime, is looking for an Entry Level Financial Crimes Investigator in Richmond, Virginia. No prior experience is required: comprehensive training is provided to build a career in financial crime compliance. You will review transactions, identify suspicious activity and support Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance. The role may be work from home, full-time in office or hybrid, depending on client needs, and candidates must live within 40 miles of Richmond.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor transactional activity to identify potential suspicious activity
• Verify client identities and assess their relationships with financial institutions for KYC purposes
• Interpret and implement client operating policies related to financial data
• Identify data anomalies and red flags for money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and sanctions violations, and escalate them for second-level review
• Write clear, concise reports summarizing findings and recommendations
• Use basic Excel functions and Microsoft Office tools for analysis
• Follow deadlines and procedures, submit work for internal quality control review and adjust it based on feedback
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, company policies and client requirements on anti-money laundering

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to learn quickly
• Analytical mindset, attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently, adapt to feedback and identify process improvements
• Residence within 40 miles of Richmond, VA

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other Office tools
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, filtering, sorting) and strong research skills are a plus
