Research Associate – 24‑Month Position (2027 Start)

About the role
The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is seeking recent graduates to join its Research Department as a full‑time Research Associate for a 24‑month term starting June 2027. Associates will work closely with two to three economists on academic and policy‑oriented projects, gaining mentorship and exposure to a broad range of economic topics.
Key responsibilities
- Support economists by writing computer code to solve dynamic macroeconomic models.
- Analyze time‑series and panel data using statistical software.
- Prepare literature reviews and assist in drafting policy briefings.
- Participate in seminars, give presentations in RA‑led study groups, and attend regular departmental meetings.
- Collaborate on both long‑term research projects and short‑term tasks as needed.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree with extensive coursework in economics, statistics (econometrics required) and mathematics (Calculus I & II required).
- GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Experience with computer programming and statistical analysis software.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in research through prior assistantships, senior theses, or term papers.
