Financial Counseling Representative (PRN)

About the role

R1 RCM Inc., a provider of technology-driven revenue cycle solutions for hospitals, health systems and medical groups, is hiring a Financial Counseling Representative in Wichita, Kansas, for Ascension Via Christi Hospital St. Francis. The schedule is PRN, with training Monday to Friday and the position mostly covering Saturdays and Sundays, occasionally mid-week to cover PTO.

Key responsibilities

• Help patients understand insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs
• Meet with patients to discuss payment options and financial assistance programs
• Verify insurance eligibility and explain benefits clearly
• Assist with Medicaid and financial assistance applications
• Build trust with patients during stressful financial situations
• Collaborate with care teams and revenue cycle departments
• Maintain accurate documentation across multiple systems

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassion, empathy and patience when supporting patients
• Ability to explain financial and insurance concepts clearly
• Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly with high attention to detail
• Professionalism in sensitive financial conversations

• Base pay of $15.43 - $20.82 per hour, depending on role, level, location, experience and education
