Financial Counseling Representative

About the role

R1 RCM, a provider of technology-driven revenue cycle solutions for hospitals, health systems and medical groups, is hiring an on-site Financial Counseling Representative in Austin, Texas. Working Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, the representative guides patients through insurance coverage, financial responsibility and payment solutions, and is paid $18.59-$25.44 per hour depending on role, level, location, experience and education.

Key responsibilities

• Help patients understand insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs
• Meet with patients to discuss payment options and financial assistance programs
• Verify insurance eligibility and explain benefits clearly
• Assist with Medicaid and financial assistance applications
• Build trust with patients during stressful financial situations
• Collaborate with care teams and revenue cycle departments
• Maintain accurate documentation across multiple systems

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassion, empathy and patience when supporting patients
• Ability to explain financial and insurance concepts clearly
• Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly with high attention to detail
• Professionalism in sensitive financial conversations
