Financial and Budget Analyst

About the role

Aretum, a federal consulting organization serving defense, civilian and homeland security clients, is looking for a Financial and Budget Analyst in McLean. The role plans, manages and monitors finances by preparing budgets, analyzing spending, evaluating funding requests and recommending actions to keep finances healthy and efficient. Employees may handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must follow safeguarding and compliance rules.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze budgets and forecast to monitor financial performance and resource use
• Prepare and maintain budget reports, assessments and financial statements
• Work with project managers to build and run financial plans for projects
• Identify areas for improvement and recommend better budget management
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations and accounting standards
• Plan for the Budget and Contracts Office and adjudicate budget change requests

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and budgeting, preferably in the federal sector
• Knowledge of federal financial management regulations and practices
• Proven knowledge of federal financial management regulations and practices
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination; U.S. citizenship required

Required skills

• Power user of Excel (Pivot Tables, financial functions, IF, SUMIF, COUNTIF, CONCATENATE, VLOOKUP)
• Data extraction from government systems such as FFMS
• Strong knowledge of Power BI
