Finance Specialist

About the role

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Engineering is seeking a Finance Specialist to support the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility. This customer‑facing position provides finance and grants management services, ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and review routine and complex financial transactions.
• Provide timely, accurate finance and grants support to department staff and functional offices.
• Maintain high‑level customer service while working under limited supervision.
• Utilize technology, including SAP or comparable integrated finance systems, to deliver professional services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree plus at least four years of financial or grants‑management experience (or equivalent education/experience).
• Experience with SAP or a large integrated finance system.
• Ability to learn new hardware and software quickly.
• Demonstrated confidentiality in line with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to build positive relationships and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of finance terminology and practices.

Required skills

• SAP (or comparable large‑scale finance system)
