Finance Analytics & Automation (FA&A) Developer

About the role

The Finance Analytics & Automation (FA&A) team at 3M is looking for a backend‑oriented developer to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions for finance reporting and analytics. You will work with Snowflake and Power BI, collaborating with finance and technical stakeholders across global locations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Snowflake database objects, including views and SQL‑based transformations.
• Optimize and troubleshoot SQL queries and backend data logic supporting business reporting.
• Partner with Controllers, Treasury, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, Manufacturing, Data Intelligence, and IT teams.
• Integrate data from multiple systems to improve accuracy, quality, and visibility.
• Support and enhance Power BI semantic models for high‑performing reporting.
• Investigate and resolve complex data and reporting issues, providing ongoing user support.
• Monitor data processes, implement fixes, and recommend improvements for performance and automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• At least three years of experience in IT, data analytics, finance, or related fields.
• Minimum one year of hands‑on experience writing complex SQL queries.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with both business and technical teams.

Required skills

• Snowflake data platform (database architecture, roles, security, view creation).
• Power BI data/semantic modeling.
• Advanced SQL for analytics and reporting.
• Version control tools such as GitHub.
• Agile/Scrum methodology.
