Field Service Technician – Mechanical Cutting (Elko, NV)

About the role

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Technician specialized in mechanical cutting to support customers in the Elko, NV area and the broader Western United States. You will work on underground and surface mining equipment, providing on‑site troubleshooting, repairs, and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical components of underground cutting equipment.
• Commission new equipment and deliver customer training with minimal supervision.
• Inspect equipment, identify faults, and replace defective parts according to work scopes.
• Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation.
• Prepare accurate time records, technical and failure reports, and parts lists.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and stay current with industry developments.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external customers and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Travel up to 50% of the time, including occasional overseas training in Austria, using a company vehicle.

Required profile

• Strong mechanical or electrical background with solid diagnostic abilities.
• Ability to work independently in underground and surface environments.
