Field Project Controller

About the role

The Field Project Controller will oversee the financial performance of construction projects from inception to closeout. Working closely with project managers, field teams, and finance leadership, you will ensure budgets are accurate, costs are tracked, and financial reporting supports informed decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, monitor, and forecast project budgets; perform variance analysis.
• Track costs, labor, equipment, and expenses against approved budgets.
• Prepare work‑in‑progress (WIP) schedules and cost‑to‑complete forecasts.
• Generate client billings, invoices, and recognize revenue per contract terms.
• Produce regular financial performance reports for managers and leadership.
• Identify financial risks, cost overruns, and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and contractual requirements.
• Reconcile project accounts and support month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Assist auditors with project documentation and financial data.
• Collaborate with field leadership to improve cost controls and accuracy.
• Review field reports, labor hours, equipment usage, and production data for accurate cost reporting.
• Manage purchase orders and change orders to align costs with budgets.
• Participate in project meetings to support forecasting and operational decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in project‑based environments such as construction or engineering.
• Strong understanding of project accounting, budgeting, and cost tracking.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
