About the role
The Feedlot Manager will oversee daily animal care and feedlot operations at the AgriLife Research and Extension Center in San Angelo, Texas. Reporting to the Research Center Manager, this role ensures livestock health, productivity, and compliance with AgriLife standards across multiple locations.
Key responsibilities
- Implement feeding, mineral, and supplementation programs according to operation standards.
- Identify, examine, and treat sick animals, maintaining body condition scoring and production records.
- Procure bulk feed, veterinary supplies, and monitor drug use and withdrawal schedules.
- Manage livestock marketing, including scheduling transportation, tagging, weighing, and recording sales.
- Conduct routine livestock work such as vaccination, sorting, marking, and weaning.
- Maintain accurate livestock records in management software and provide weekly updates.
- Ensure pen and facility cleanliness, perform maintenance, and recommend improvements.
- Communicate weekly with the Research Center Manager about operational variances and policy concerns.
