Federal Work Study Student - Automotive Technology Worker

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Federal Work Study student to support the Automotive Technology department at Southern Crescent Technical College’s Henry Campus. This part‑time position offers hands‑on experience in a college automotive lab while assisting students, instructors, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Greet visitors, answer and route telephone calls, and deliver messages courteously.
• Assist with setting up and maintaining lab and classroom spaces, ensuring equipment and materials are ready for classes.
• Enter and manage data on automotive shop activities, including vehicle type, repairs, owner information, and student work logs.
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment, care for hand tools and lab supplies, and help set up lab projects.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Knowledge of automotive terminology, repairs, tools, and vehicle makes and models.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills, organized and able to follow directions.
• Physical ability to bend, climb, lift up to 25 lb, stoop and crawl.
• Professional demeanor and willingness to learn.
