Farm Aide – Tractor Driver

About the role

The Farm Aide (Tractor Driver) supports daily farm operations at Texas A&M AgriLife Research in Weslaco. Working under supervision, you will operate and maintain tractors and related equipment while assisting with field tasks such as planting, fertilizing, and harvesting.

Key responsibilities

• Operate tractors and farm implements for tilling, planting, cultivating, and spreading seeds.
• Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on tractors, graders, rollers, plows, and other equipment.
• Conduct inspections, lubricate attachments, and report any faults to the Farm Manager.
• Transport materials, pull or push agricultural tools, and use laser‑leveling equipment to prepare fields.
• Assist with field work including plowing, planting, harvesting, pesticide application, weed control, irrigation, and general plot maintenance.
• Maintain farm facilities: mow roadside areas, build/repair fences, and remove trash.
• Support additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Extensive knowledge of tractor operation.
• Experience performing maintenance on tractors and other farming equipment.
• Ability to work independently and follow safety procedures.
