Facilities Technician (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Crawfordsville District Public Library seeks an energetic Facilities Technician to help maintain a clean, comfortable and safe environment for library patrons, museum visitors and staff. The role involves identifying building and grounds issues, recommending solutions and implementing repairs, often using a personal vehicle for travel within the city.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building components.
• Inspect roofs, floors, doors, windows, light fixtures and report major repair needs to the Assistant Director.
• Coordinate vendor and contractor work, order supplies and manage inventory of maintenance equipment.
• Maintain appropriate temperature and humidity for library, archival and museum collections.
• Assist with setting up furniture and equipment for events, transport recyclables and perform custodial tasks when needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of field experience in a specialized trade such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
• Building trades certification or journeyman’s license preferred.
• Strong analytical and computer skills, including email use.
• Valid Indiana driver’s license, good driving record and reliable transportation.
