Facilities Technician (Part Time)

About the role

The American Red Cross is seeking a part‑time Facilities Technician to keep its buildings and equipment operating safely and efficiently. Working under general supervision, you will perform a variety of maintenance tasks across multiple trades to support the organization’s humanitarian mission.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facilities, including walls, ceilings, concrete floors, steps and sidewalks.
• Patch minor holes, paint structures and equipment, and perform basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
• Install, service, and troubleshoot mechanical systems such as boilers, chillers, motors, fans and pumps.
• Use hand and power tools, read blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and specifications.
• Document installations and repairs to satisfy regulatory requirements.
• Move and store furniture, estimate time and material costs, and requisition supplies.
• Perform basic landscaping tasks such as planting flowerbeds and pruning shrubs or trees.

• Ability to work under general supervision and follow standard operating procedures.
• Compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Willingness to support and guide volunteers as needed.
• Not eligible for relocation assistance.
