Facilities Intern

About the role

Roche is looking for a Facilities Intern in San Jose. The intern helps map, document and improve the site's maintenance procedures, working with technicians and supervisors to turn field practice into clear, usable documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Survey current maintenance routines across the site's systems and installations, identifying workflows, frequencies and responsible parties.
• Design, draft and standardize SOPs, work instructions and control forms for each preventive routine.
• Create checklists, inspection sheets and step-by-step guides to streamline daily execution and technical records.
• Organize the site maintenance procedure library with version control and standardized naming conventions.
• Analyze gaps between field execution and documented procedures and propose improvements that save time, improve safety and remove ambiguity.
• Assist in communicating and validating new procedures with technicians and supervisors before they are released.

Required profile

• Student in the final stages of study or recent graduate eligible for an internship in Industrial, Electrical, Electromechanical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• General understanding of facility systems and technical infrastructure.
• Good written and verbal communication in English.
• Attention to detail, organization, assertiveness with operational staff and leadership, and a proactive, collaborative approach.

Required skills

• Technical writing, conceptual clarity and synthesis.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Visio or other mapping tools are a plus.
• Basic knowledge of quality management, SOP standardization and maintenance best practices.
