Facilities Engineer II – Healthcare Facility Engineering

About the role

The Facilities Engineer II joins Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus Infrastructure Engineering team, providing technical expertise for maintenance, renovation, and new construction of healthcare facilities. The role supports Mechanical, Electrical, and Fire & Life Safety engineering across a worldwide portfolio, with local travel in Northeast Ohio.

Key responsibilities

• Provide multi‑disciplinary engineering consultation for facility repair and new construction projects, interacting with architects, space planners, owners, and third‑party consultants.
• Perform engineering studies, assessments, and troubleshooting of existing building systems, recommending repairs and improvements.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and construction documents for small renovations and assist in the selection and review of third‑party design consultants.
• Assist in budget development, cost estimation, and compliance with project scopes, codes, and Cleveland Clinic engineering standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
• Minimum four years of design and/or operations experience with industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities.
• Successful completion of the 8‑hour Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) training within six months of hire.
• Ability to travel locally 2‑3 days per week and work onsite in a healthcare environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for creating and reviewing design documents.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer‑generated reports.
