Estimator

About the role

The Estimator will support Cleveland Clinic's capital project development by providing accurate cost estimates for construction projects. Working onsite at the Main Campus, the role collaborates with planners, owners' representatives, and project managers to ensure realistic budgeting throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive, accurate, and competitive estimates, including technical takeoffs, cost analysis, and subcontractor communication.
• Develop economical system selections for bid preparation in coordination with operations personnel.
• Collect and analyze data on materials, labor, location, project duration, and special equipment requirements.
• Assist design planners during concept, schematic, and design development phases, ensuring all estimating tasks meet schedule and Cleveland Clinic standards.
• Plan construction sequences, size utilization, and develop pre‑construction schedules indicating estimating milestones.
• Monitor cost progress throughout construction and at project close‑out, communicating proactively with other departments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or 8+ years industry experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum five years of cost estimation experience in commercial construction, preferably on healthcare projects ranging from $100K to $100M.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to analyze, compare, and interpret detailed information for accurate judgments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and time‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with cost estimation software.
• Experience using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
