Expert In Vitro Biologist

About the role

Cogent Scientific is seeking an Expert In Vitro Biologist to lead the development and optimization of patient‑derived organoid and complex co‑culture models for oncology discovery programs. The role involves independent project ownership in a collaborative, fast‑paced laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, expand, and maintain patient‑derived organoid cultures and tissue‑specific models.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and improve complex co‑culture systems incorporating tumor cells, fibroblasts, immune cells and microenvironment components.
• Design and execute semi‑ or high‑throughput 3D assays (viability, proliferation, differentiation, drug response) using platforms such as transwell, air‑liquid interface, and organ‑on‑a‑chip.
• Perform endpoint and kinetic assays for safety and efficacy screening using advanced microscopy and molecular techniques.

Required profile

• PhD in cell biology, bioengineering, cancer biology or related field, or MS with 4+ years relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of at least one focus area: renal, pancreatic, lung or colon biology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.

Required skills

• Organoid and 3D cell‑culture techniques.
• Molecular biology methods: immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western blot, flow cytometry.
• Advanced microscopy: confocal, light‑sheet, high‑content imaging.
• Assay platforms: CellTiter‑Glo, ELISA, transwell, air‑liquid interface, organ‑on‑a‑chip.
