Executive Vice President of Construction

About the role

Elmington is seeking an Executive Vice President of Construction to lead the strategy and execution of its multi‑million‑dollar single‑family rental projects. This senior leader will drive performance across construction and operations, ensuring projects meet schedule, budget, safety, and quality expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee active construction projects ranging from $15M to $50M, maintaining accountability for schedule, budget, safety, and quality.
• Direct and support a field team of Construction Managers and an Assistant Construction Manager, setting clear expectations and resolving issues proactively.
• Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager on buyout strategy, competitive bidding, contract execution, and procurement alignment.
• Conduct regular project reviews and site walks to identify risks and drive corrective actions.
• Enforce rigorous QA/QC standards at critical milestones such as foundation, framing, MEP rough‑in, pre‑drywall, and final inspection.
• Partner with development teams on design reviews, constructability analysis, and value engineering to ensure buildability and code compliance.
• Review and validate construction budgets, preliminary schedules, and bid packages before project launch.
• Lead a merit‑based bid process, requiring multiple qualified bidders and awarding contracts based on price, qualifications, and performance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading large‑scale residential construction programs.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and complex stakeholder relationships.
• Strong financial acumen with a track record of delivering projects within budget.
• Deep understanding of construction safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
