Executive Director, Innovation & Transformation

About the role

The Executive Director, Innovation & Transformation will lead enterprise‑wide transformation initiatives that modernize clinical operations for a global R&D organization. Based in the United States, you will shape AI‑enabled strategies, drive operational excellence, and ensure scalable execution across a highly regulated life‑sciences environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the execution of innovation and transformation strategies across clinical operations, modernizing processes, workflows, and operating models.
• Oversee strategic initiatives such as ACT FAST, aligning global development, technology, AI, and R&D stakeholders.
• Drive adoption of AI, automation, and digital capabilities to improve trial efficiency, scalability, and decision‑making.
• Establish and manage a Program Management Office (PMO) to govern portfolio prioritization, tracking, and delivery.
• Coordinate cross‑functional programs, ensuring alignment of timelines, budgets, and strategic objectives.
• Facilitate executive governance forums and lead organizational change and capability‑building efforts.
• Partner with internal and external parties to evaluate emerging technologies and support innovation opportunities.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in clinical operations, program management, or transformation within biopharma or life‑sciences.
• Proven leadership of large‑scale enterprise transformation initiatives in matrixed organizations.
• Strong background in clinical development or operations, with experience establishing or leading PMO functions.
