Executive Director - Camp Baer

About the role

Wise Path Recovery Centers, operated by Ascension Recovery Services, is opening Camp Baer, a new residential substance use disorder treatment program in Morgantown, West Virginia. The Executive Director leads the program from pre-opening through launch and long-term operation, shaping its culture, building the leadership team, establishing operational standards and setting the client and team member experience. The role is full-time, on-site and exempt, and relocation assistance is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Lead pre-opening readiness: staffing, onboarding, training, scheduling, workflows and policy implementation, and build the leadership structure needed to launch and scale the program.
• Set performance expectations, accountability systems and key operational metrics, and develop processes for admissions, clinical services, medical services, recovery support, hospitality, documentation and facility operations.
• Create a calm, restorative, welcoming and professional environment that supports the therapeutic mission, with clear boundaries and regular assessment of the client and family experience.
• Ensure compliance with West Virginia behavioral health and substance use disorder requirements, prepare for regulatory and accreditation surveys, and support HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 and client rights compliance.
• Partner with the Clinical Director, Medical Director and nursing leadership on evidence-based, recovery-oriented treatment, treatment planning, documentation, level-of-care and utilization review, and client safety.
• Manage the facility budget with ARS Finance, monitor census, occupancy, admissions, discharges, staffing ratios, labor utilization, overtime, length of stay, payer mix, revenue and expenses, and align staffing with operational needs.
• Recruit, develop and retain an interdisciplinary team, coach department leaders, run supervision and performance management, and foster a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented culture.
• Represent the center in the Morgantown region and build relationships with hospitals and healthcare providers.

Required profile

• Mission-driven healthcare leader combining compassion with strong operational discipline.
• Ability to build a program from the ground up and lead a new facility through opening.
• Experience leading a behavioral health or addiction treatment program.
