Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)

About the role

Camp Baer, a WisePath Recovery Center, is hiring a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support clients through their entire treatment experience, from admission to discharge. The BHT helps maintain a safe, structured, recovery-oriented environment by assisting clients with daily routines, supporting treatment goals, monitoring safety and providing compassionate, trauma-informed engagement. Shifts are available 6am-2:30pm, 2pm-10:30pm and 10pm-6:30am, on a full-time or PRN basis.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities, recreation, community meetings and appointments, and give full orientation to new clients
• Support client participation in recovery activities and groups, and escalate crises appropriately
• Monitor clients for safety and adherence to program expectations, and conduct scheduled safety checks and rounds
• Take vital signs, urine drug screens and breathalyzer tests per protocol, maintain chain-of-custody documentation and help monitor client medications
• Keep accurate progress notes and incident reports in the EHR
• Provide clerical support such as scheduling, documentation and front desk operations, and support meal service and housekeeping oversight
• Safely transport clients to appointments, meetings, grocery stores or approved community activities

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 21 years of age
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain it within 30 days
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks and motor vehicle screening
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, sociology, addiction studies or a related field, 1+ year of experience in addiction treatment or residential services, and personal or professional recovery experience of at least 2 years

Required skills

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance and respond to emergencies
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting and stay professional with clients in crisis
• Knowledge of 12-Step programs, peer recovery principles or dual diagnosis treatment preferred
