EVS Technician – 16‑hour Shift

About the role

The Environmental Services (EVS) Technician provides essential cleaning and sanitization services across patient rooms, treatment areas, and public spaces within Northwestern Medicine facilities. This 16‑hour position supports a patient‑first environment by ensuring safe, clean, and well‑stocked clinical spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain patient rooms, offices, treatment rooms, and public areas daily, including trash removal, linen changes, and surface sanitization.
• Follow isolation and contact‑precaution protocols, using appropriate PPE and signage.
• Stock paper items and supplies, maintain cleaning carts and equipment in good condition.
• Promote workplace safety by using wet‑floor signs, proper chemical dilution, and reporting hazards or equipment repairs.
• Communicate schedule issues or deficiencies to supervisors promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information while interacting with hospital personnel.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives and cost‑reduction efforts.
