EVS Tech – Part-Time Environmental Services Technician

About the role

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part‑time Environmental Services (EVS) Technician to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position works on a rotating schedule of approximately 16 hours per week, supporting multiple clinical areas across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned spaces daily.
• Collect and remove trash, change bed linens, and sanitize all surfaces according to infection‑control standards.
• Follow patient isolation and contact‑precaution protocols as required.
• Stock paper items and supplies, keep carts and equipment clean and in working order.
• Use wet‑floor signs, personal protective equipment (PPE), and proper chemical dilution to ensure safety.
• Report equipment repairs, safety hazards, and any schedule‑related issues to supervisors.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and demonstrate professional demeanor.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and cleanliness standards.
• Effective communication with hospital personnel and willingness to address patient inquiries courteously.
