Estimator & Project Manager – Heavy Civil & Mining (Western US)

About the role

MacKay Contracting seeks an experienced Estimator / Project Manager to drive heavy civil and mining projects across the Western United States. You will move beyond a desk‑only role, influencing which opportunities we pursue and guiding projects from bid through execution.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate heavy civil, mining and infrastructure opportunities throughout the Western U.S.
• Develop detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, pricing, schedules and bid strategies aligned with how the work will be built.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, engineers, general contractors, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Lead projects after award, overseeing planning, mobilization, cost, schedule, contracts, changes and client communication.
• Collaborate with estimating, operations and field leadership to create competitive, realistic plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in heavy civil construction estimating and project management.
• Ability to assess market risks, determine project viability and influence bid decisions.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with industry stakeholders.
• Comfort working onsite and managing projects through all phases.
