Entry-Level Transportation Engineer

About the role

Join the Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) in Columbus, OH as an Entry‑Level Transportation Engineer. You will gain hands‑on experience designing roadways and related infrastructure while working alongside seasoned engineers who are committed to your professional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, typical sections, and grading plans for roadway projects.
• Create construction documents including plan sets, profiles, cross‑sections, and detail drawings.
• Perform engineering calculations for geometry, drainage, pavement design, and material quantities.
• Assist with project specifications, cost estimating, and quantity take‑offs.
• Apply state and local DOT design standards to real‑world projects.
• Collaborate with civil/site, drainage, structures, utilities, and survey teams.
• Participate in design reviews, incorporate feedback, and support field visits when needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Internship or co‑op experience in roadway or transportation design is a strong plus.
• Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and grow under mentorship.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D.
• Familiarity with OpenRoads ORD (bonus).
