Entry Level Technician - Autonomous Vehicle (FT)

About the role

Avis Budget Group is partnering with a self-driving technology leader to launch and scale a fully autonomous ride-hailing service in Dallas. As an EV Technician C, you will join a foundational, growth-focused role supporting routine maintenance, tire services, basic mechanical repairs and entry-level diagnostics under the guidance of senior technicians, while learning EV systems, safety standards and emerging automotive technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Tire repair and replacement, preventive maintenance (filters, belts), brake service (pads and rotors), and replacement of fuses, bulbs, fasteners and 12V batteries
• Support for basic suspension components and inspection/replacement of wheel sensors
• Use of hand and impact tools, and Level 1 high-voltage and low-voltage inspections under supervision, following EV safety procedures and lock-out/tag-out
• Light EV repairs as skill develops, and use of software diagnostic tools for basic troubleshooting
• Assist with infotainment and display screen replacements and OTA software updates
• Develop working knowledge of ADAS components (cameras, radar, LiDAR) and exposure to calibration and alignment work

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year of automotive technician experience
• At least one ASE certification (A1-A8); EV ASE Level 1 and Level 2 required within 6 months of hire
• Interest in hybrid and/or electric vehicle systems
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety standards, and basic computer skills with diagnostic software
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent standing, bending, reaching, walking, sitting and kneeling; work may be indoors and outdoors
• Regular on-site presence; remote work is not possible
