Entry-Level Laborer at Poplar Island Facility

About the role

Maryland Environmental Service is seeking an entry-level Laborer to join its team at the Poplar Island facility near Tilghman Island, Maryland. This full‑time position supports environmental solutions for public and private sectors across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties, small repairs, and routine maintenance.
• Operate hand tools, power mowers, and other small equipment for grass cutting and pesticide application.
• Drive and operate vehicles, including crew vessels for travel to and from work.
• Complete independent errands such as picking up parts, tools, and supplies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (or eighth‑grade completion plus one year relevant experience).
• Ability to pass a physical exam, lift up to 50 lb, and communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Valid driver’s license with fewer than five points.

Required skills

• Operation of hand tools and power equipment.
• Vehicle operation, including boat travel.
• Basic maintenance and repair tasks.
