Engineering Technician – R&D Process & Product Design

About the role

Alcon is seeking an Engineering Technician to join its Research & Development Process & Product Design team in Lake Forest, CA. You will provide hands‑on technical support for product design and development, ensuring accurate testing, documentation, and compliance for medical‑device projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in testing, documentation, and compliance activities for product design projects.
• Perform routine product evaluations, maintain laboratory equipment, and collect data to support research.
• Troubleshoot design issues and ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards.
• Develop knowledge in product testing, materials analysis, and technical reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (high school + 8 yrs, Associate + 4 yrs).
• Fluent English reading and writing skills.
• Prior engineering or engineering‑technician experience, preferably in medical‑device testing, product design, fixture development, or assembly/rework.
• Ability to write and execute test protocols or methods.
• Experience with electro‑mechanical or opto‑mechanical devices is a plus.
• Experience with pre‑clinical/wet‑lab sample preparation is a plus.
