Engineering Design Specialist – Simulation-Based AI Training

About the role

Turing is seeking an Engineering Design Specialist to create realistic, simulation‑based design challenges that train and evaluate advanced AI models. You will work at the intersection of engineering, physics‑based simulation, and AI research to craft problems that require genuine trade‑offs and iterative design.

Key responsibilities

• Design and validate simulation‑based engineering problems with clear constraints, optimization goals, and multiple failure modes.
• Produce complete problem packages, including reference solutions, near‑miss variants, edge cases, and thorough documentation.
• Collaborate closely with AI researchers to refine problems based on model performance and feedback.
• Ensure problem difficulty aligns with target model capabilities and real‑world engineering reasoning.

Required profile

• Deep design expertise in at least one engineering domain (e.g., electrical, mechanical, chemical, control systems, materials, optics, aerospace, civil, nuclear, systems, robotics).
• Experience creating or using physics‑based simulators for design evaluation.
• Ability to formulate constraints, trade‑offs, and optimization objectives that reflect genuine engineering practice.
