Engineering Design Specialist – Simulation-based AI

About the role

Turing is seeking an Engineering Design Specialist to create realistic, simulation‑based design challenges for advanced AI models. You will work at the intersection of engineering and AI, crafting problems that require genuine trade‑offs, component sizing, and iterative optimization against physics‑based simulators.

Key responsibilities

• Design and validate simulation‑driven engineering problems with clear constraints and optimization goals.
• Produce complete problem packages, including reference solutions, near‑miss variants, edge cases, and thorough documentation.
• Ensure each problem presents appropriate difficulty and multiple failure modes.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to refine problems based on model performance and feedback.

Required profile

• Proven experience in engineering design and simulation.
• Deep expertise in at least one engineering domain (e.g., electrical, mechanical, chemical, control systems, materials, optics, aerospace, civil, nuclear, systems, robotics).
• Ability to translate real‑world engineering constraints into AI‑ready design tasks.

Required skills

• Simulation‑based engineering design.
• Physics‑based modeling and analysis.
• Domain‑specific engineering knowledge (e.g., analog IC design, fluid dynamics, reactor design, control theory, etc.).
