Engineer I – Manufacturing Process Support

About the role

Amgen is seeking an Engineer I to support manufacturing processes at its Thousand Oaks Pilot Plant. The role focuses on operational support, troubleshooting, and optimization of both stainless‑steel and single‑use equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day operational support and equipment troubleshooting.
• Apply engineering principles to design and implement new equipment.
• Support system reliability, identify performance risks, and implement risk‑reduction strategies.
• Lead improvement projects targeting cycle‑time reduction, efficiency gains, and yield improvements.
• Conduct technical investigations, root‑cause analysis, and structured problem‑solving.
• Analyze data using Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma, and predictive‑maintenance techniques.
• Assist with new product and technology introductions, including equipment modifications and engineering runs.
• Collect, organize, and present results for small‑scope engineering projects.
• Translate user and process requirements into engineering documentation and support design development.

Required profile

• Experience supporting manufacturing processes in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment.
• Ability to work onsite and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical mindset and problem‑solving orientation.
